ANC 5E07 - Eric Jenkins - Why am I Running?

Greetings Neighbors - 

On November 6th, 2012, Bloomingdale voters in ANC 5E-07 will elect a new ANC Commissioner.  I humbly ask for your support as I seek to represent the best neighborhood in the District!  I moved to Bloomingdale over 12 years ago as a young attorney and first time homeowner attracted to Bloomingdale's historic architecture, diverse culture, rich history and enormous potential.  Today, as a husband and father to 3 beautiful daughters, I appreciate more than ever the value of community and the importance of working collectively to enrich our lives as neighbors.  As we continue to add to the mosaic of the neighborhood with new residents and new businesses you deserve a representative with the experience and know-how to build consensus and aggressively advocate for the interests of the community.

I am running because Bloomingdale is our home and we deserve the best.  My business, government and community experience uniquely qualifies me to represent our interests and concerns at this critical time when our city is in need of good leadership.

For Bloomingdale to reach its potential we need leaders at the lowest levels of government who can articulate and advance community concerns to influence the highest levels of our government to take action.  I will give you a greater voice with the Council, Executive Branch and District Agencies.  I have forged relationships at all levels of our government and as your Commissioner will make your voices heard, whether I am working with MPD, FEMS, DDOT, DMPED, DDOE, OP, DC Water, PEPCO, the DC Council or others. I want to do my part to lead Bloomingdale into the type of neighborhood we all envision.
